This is a transcription of a conveyance for a land transfer between Jacobus Romine and Archibald Craig, my 8th great-grandfather on 25th of May 1720. Reference: C-2:Folio 60.

This Indenture made this Twenty fifth Day of May in the Sixth year of the reign of our Sovereign Lord George over great Britain, France & Ireland King & Anno Dom 1720 Between Jacobus Romine of Freehold, in this County of Monmouth in the Eastern Division of the province of New Jersey Yeoman of the one part, and Archibald Craig of Freehold aforesaid Yeoman of the other part Witnesseth that the said Jacobus Romine for and in Consideration of the Sum of Two Hundred and forty pounds Current money of this province aforesaid to him already in hand paid by him Yeoman Archibald Craig the receipt whereof he the said Jacobus Romine Doth hereby Acknowledge and himself to be therewith fully and entirely Satisfied Contented and paid and thereof and of and from every part and parcel thereof Doth fully Clearly and absolutely Acquit Exonerate and Discharge him the said Archibald Craig his Heirs Executors Administrators and every of them forever by these presents Hath granted bargained Sold Aliened Enoffered and Confirmed and by these presents Doth fully Clearly and absolutely Grant bargain and Sell Alien Enoffer Release Convey and Confirm unto him the said Archibald Craig his heirs and assigns forever All that Tract of Land Situate Lying and being in the county aforesaid on the South East of that Land which was James Johnston’s now John Craig’s Beginning where James Johnston’s Line Crosses the Middle Brook thence along John Craig’s Line North East by East Three Degrees Northerly to a Beach tree Standing on [Spotswoods] North Brook Thence up the South Brook forty five Chains South East and by South Southerly thence South West and by West Three Degrees Southerly Thirty Chains to James Johnston’s middle brook Thence Down the said Brook North West and by North Northerly to the place where it began Also another Tract of Upland and Meadow in the Said County beginning where a [Parcel ? ?] into Spotswoods middle Brook below James Miller’s Corner Running own Said Brook Thirty Three Chains on both Sides and Brook Containing four acres of Long Meadow the whole being bounded SouthWesterly by the Middle Brook North Westerly by John Craig’s Land North Easterly by North Brook and Easterly by the Barrens Together with all and all manner of housings buildings Edifices Barns Stables Orchards fencings foodings Pastures Trees Woods Underwoods Springs Runs Streams Rivulets Ponds Pools Waters Watercourses Dams Pitts Easements Profits Commodities Liberties Advantages Emoluments Hereditaments and Appurtenances whatsoever to the same belonging or in any manner of ways thereunto Appertaining And also all the Estate right Title Interest possession property Claim and Demand whatsoever of him the said Jacobus Romine and his Heirs Either in Law or in Equity of in and unto the said Tracts of Lands and Meadow and Granted and bargained promised with the Appurtenances with the reversion and reversions remainder or remainders of or belonging to the Same or to any part or parcel thereof as fully and amply to all intents Constructions and purposes whatsoever as the same was Granted and Conveyed unto him the said Jacobus Romine by a Certain Deed or Instrument of Sale from Joseph Morgan of the Same County Clerk Dated to the tenth Day of December Anno Dom 1714 To have and to hold the Said Tract of Land and granted bargained promised with their and ever of their rights Members and Appurtenances unto him the said Archibald Craig his heirs and Assigns forever To the only proper use benefit and behalf of him the said Archibald Craig his Heirs and Assigns forever And he the said Jacobus Romine Doth for himSelf his heirs, Executors and Administrators Covenant promise Grant and Agree to and with him the said Archibald Craig his heirs and Assigns by these Presents in manner and form following (Viz) That at the time of the Sealing and Delivery hereof he the said Jacobus Romine is Lawfully seized of the said Tract of Land and Meadow and all and Singular the Premises and Appurtenances thereof of a Good Sure pure perfect and absolute Indefeasible Estate of Inheritance in his proper demense as of fee without any Condition or Limitation of any use or uses Estate or Estates of in or To any person or persons whosoever to alter Change or make void the Same [He ?]the said Jacobus Romine hath himself good right full power and Absolute Lawful Authority to grant Bargain and Sell the Same and every part thereof unto him the said Archibald Craig his Heirs and Assigns for Ever in manner aforesaid – And that the Same now is free and from time to time and at all times hereafter Shall remain free and clear to him the said Archibald Craig his Heirs and Assigns forever from all and all manner of former and other Gifts Grants bargains Sales Leases Mortgages and of and from all other Titles Troubles Charges Demands and Incumbrances whatsoever had made Committed Done or Suffered to be done by him the said Jacobus Romaine or any other person or persons whatsoever by from or under him to alter change to alter Change Charge Defeat Determine or make void the Same the rent or Services of four pence per Year that shall become due for the said Land to the Proprietors only excepted. In witness whereof the Said Jacobus Romine and Mary his wife (with whose Good Liking and Approbation this Grant is made as is testified by her hand and Seal as party to these Presents Have hereunto Set their hands and Seals this Day first above written Jacobus Romine his mark [MARK SHOWN] The within Written Instrument Sealed and delivered in the presence of Francis Pierce Timothy Lloyd [Henry Mount Mormoran] done this 25th of May 1720 The within named Jacobus Romine Acknowledges this Instrument to be his Act and Deed before me.
