This is a transcription of a conveyance for a Spotswood Creek land transfer between John Craig, my 9th great-grandfather and Archibald Craig, my 8th great-grandfather on 10 APR 1702.

This is a transcription of a conveyance for a land transfer between John Craig, my 9th great-grandfather and Archibald Craig, my 8th great-grandfather on 10 APR 1702. It was enacted the same day and in the same area as a purchase by James Craig, my 8th great-uncle on my maternal grandfather’s side. Reference: C:Folio 230.

Knoweth all men by these presents that John Craig of the town of Amboy in the County of Middlesex and province of East New Jersey for all ye natural love and affection which I bear to my loving son Archibald Craig and for a competent sum of money secured to be payed wherewith I am well satisfied have aliened granted bargained and sold and by these presents do give grant bargain and sell unto the said Archibald Craig his heirs and assigns all that Tract of Land in the county of Monmouth and province aforementioned [cut off] the bounded South westerly by Spotswood brook Easterly by land of William Laing Beginning at Laing’s Corner of the brook and running north north west to two degrees more northerly one hundred and eight chains thence west to Spotswood brook and thence crossing the stream thereof to where it began with all the royalties profits and appurtenances to the said John belonging and all the Estate Right title Interest Possession Domain or Claim and Demand whatsoever of me the said John Craig of in to or out of the said Land or any part of it as amply and fully to all Intents Constructions and purposes as the Land now granted and affirmed to me by deed of William Dockwra the ninth day of December Announced Domini 1695 To have and To Hold the said Tract of Land and premisses with all the appurtenances unto him the said Archibald Craig his heirs and assigns to the only use and possession of him the said Archibald Craig his heirs and assigns for ever In witness whereof I the said John Craig have hereunto put my hand and seal this tenth day of April in the 14th year in the Reign of William the Third over England, Scotland & Ireland King  Anno Domini 1702.

John Craig [Seal] Sealed and delivered in presence of John Row, James Craig the 14th of the 6th month 1702 James Crag and the said witness to the writing acknowledged he did see the within named John Craig seal and deliver this as his own act and deed to Archibald Craig above named this day acknowledged before me Benjamin Griffith Justice.
